Translating the Other

Through a debate between Franz Rosenzweig and Martin Buber on the nature of translation, one can see two different ethical orientations towards the Other. Buber’s tends to translate texts in a way that makes them fit his presuppositions whereas Rosenzweig’s translations attempt to maintain the otherness of the text.
